Prophecy is not just about foretelling what is to come. Sometimes it has been. But it is always "forth-telling." To exercise prophecy simply means to be a spokesman on behalf of God. So it is not limited just to direct revelations from miraculous experience. To be a spokesman on behalf of God through the forth-telling of what God has already revealed in Scripture is still a form of prophesy. So on what levels is this prophetic ministry...this ministry of the Word...to be applied today?
Both the Old and New Testaments assert that the Word of the Lord endures forever. We test that hypothesis to see how much relevance Scripture could still have for today's world.
